In 2001 The Jewish Hospital Mobile Mammography Units brought fast and convenient mammography screening to 11,826 women in communities
throughout the Greater Cincinnati area. The units are staffed by radiology technologists specialized in mammography from The Jewish Hospital, and uses the
same FDA and Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA)-approved equipment as the hospital-based testing sites. We also utilize the R2 ImageChecker, a computer-aided detection (CAD) system that detects 23.4 percent more breast cancers than
mammography alone. Mobile Mammography is treated as any other mammogram and is a covered benefit by most insurance companies. For best coverage, participants should verify that The Jewish Hospital is a panel provider with their insurance company. Financial assistance available Statistically, one out of every eight women in America will develop breast cancer at some time in her life. However, when breast cancer is found early, the five-year survival rate is 96 percent. Yearly screening mammograms for women over the age of 40 are crucial to early detection, especially when mammography can detect a lump up to two years before it can be felt. Yet, for too many women - those who are poor, uninsured or underinsured - screening mammograms are a luxury they cannot afford. An unnecessary expense that will just have to be put off until next year. Unfortunately, sometimes, next year can be too late. The Jewish Hospital, through a generous grant from the Avon Foundation, is proud to offer financial assistance for screening mammograms to uninsured and underinsured women in Greater Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky and bordering Indiana counties.
