Martin Popp, MD
Martin Popp, MD serves as one of the Associate Program Directors
for the General Surgical Residency Program here at Jewish Hospital.
He is a native of Ft. Thomas, Kentucky. He received his Bachelor's
degree in Chemistry from the University of Cincinnati and his Doctorate
degree in Surgery. Dr. Popp earned his medical degree from the University
of Pennsylvania in 1968, where he also served as an intern for one
year. He subsequently completed a six year General Surgery Residency
at the University of Cincinnati. His residency was interrupted by a
two year period in the United States Navy including a year on a hospital
ship in Vietnam. He furthered his medical studies with a Fellowship
in Surgical Oncology from the National Cancer Institute from 1977 to
1979. Following completion of the fellowship, Dr. Popp spent ten years
on the surgery staff of the University of Cincinnati, rising to the
level of Associate Professor.
Dr. Popp has received multiple grants. He assists the Surgical Residents
at Jewish Hospital with their research papers/projects and conducts
their Journal Club Conference.
He is currently a member of the ACS, Society of Surgical Oncology,
Society of University Surgeons, and the Association of Academic Surgeons.
Dr. Popp went into private practice in Cincinnati in 1989 with Tri-State
Surgical Consultants.
