Created with particular concern for patient and family convenience, the 23-bed intensive care unit located on the third floor of Jewish Hospital, is designed to make every aspect of treatment as stress-free as possible. All of the services patients need are located on-site, including Hoxworth Blood Center.
The inpatient unit includes:
- 23 private HEPA-filtered patient rooms with private bathrooms,
- Four full intensive care unit rooms, large enough to handle all equipment needed by a patient with complications
- Full cardiac monitoring capabilities
- Laundry facilities
- Nutrition Center/kitchen for families stocked with wide variety of soups, snacks and frozen items
- Spacious accommodations for family members
- Free wireless internet access
- Activity room equipped with VCR tapes and DVD’s (players in patient rooms), books, magazines, puzzles, game, computer with full Internet access and printer, stationary bike and treadmill, and video capabilities to allow patients to visit with children in waiting room using our Web camera or at home using personal Web camera.
- Family waiting room outside the unit equipped with Web camera for children to visit with patients, television, table and chairs, recliners, computer room, laundry facilities, and restroom with shower.
The unit's capabilities provide for all patient needs including any complications. Therefore patients remain in the Blood and Marrow Transplant Unit for all of their treatment and stay with nurses and other caregivers who understand their special needs.
